Other must-try things are some of the many Australian prawn species and numerous high-quality options for sushi and sashimi. If trying a unique local fish species grilled to perfection is more your thing, then your Sydney Luxury Experiences knows just the place in this sprawling working fish market. Currently the largest in the Southern Hemisphere and only about to get bigger and better with new premises opening late 2025, early 26.
Aussie Meat Pie Time
We have researched far and wide to get our hands around one of Sydney’s best examples of the iconic Australian meat pie. Sit next to pie-loving locals as your host tells you the do’s and don’ts when eating this snack-sized delight the Australian way!
Sample the traditional mince (ground beef), gravy, and chunky steak, chicken, lamb, or other unique options. While we are at it, leaving without a mouthful of the meat pies, brother from another mother, the sausage roll wouldn't be right either! As tasty as it all is, don't go overboard; we have plenty more things to try!
Juicy Beef
With Australia being renowned for having some of the best beef on the planet, it is a must-do with your time in this amazing country. Head through the doors of a casual restaurant on the bustling Enmore Rd, focused on showcasing Australian beef at its finest. Order straight off the menu or delve deeper by checking all the cuts on display at the front counter.. Just like walking into your favourite butcher's store. The choice is yours from the juiciest of Rib Eyes, Sirloin or perhaps a T-Bone. At this lunch stop, the menu is also extensive, and while beef is the focus, it also caters to other preferences.
Something Sweet!
Described by none other than the New York Times as the world's most Instagrammable cake, Black Starr Pastries' strawberry/watermelon cake is one seriously good-looking creation! Sample it and some of Black Star’s perfectly curated cakes in both looks & taste! If you still have some room in that stomach, then next up is Australia’s very own cake, the “Lamington”. Learn the folklore of its invention and the popular variations from its original form. If gelato is more your thing, we can skip a cake or two and hit up the premises of a former world gelato title winner just up the road!

After all that not-so-hard work, it's time for a drink or two! Sit next to locals in the know at a bar full of character that feels a million miles away from one filled with tourists down by the harbour and the Opera House! For the beer lovers, let's head to the hip neighbourhood of Marrickville, home to as many craft breweries in one neighbourhood as anywhere in the world. Beer is not your thing, then perhaps a small independent gin or rum distillery may suit, or just simply a great Australian wine or cocktail at a funky bar to finish the day?
